Bearden’s postseason run came to an end on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bulldogs fell to Independence in the Class AAA state quarterfinals, 63-48.

The Bulldogs (22-10) finished the game with 20 total turnovers and a season low 48 points.
The Eagles went on a 14-2 run to end the first half and an 18-8 run to start the third quarter to pull away.
Mac James led Independence with a game-high 16 points. Trent Stephney led Bearden with 13 points.
Despite a roster that relied primarily on sophomores, Bearden still managed to get back to the state tournament in Murfreesboro for the first time since 2011. The Bulldogs lose senior Dre Dave, but will bring back the rest of their roster next season – including All-Region sophomores Stephney, Ques Glover, and Roman Robinson and All-District sophomore Drew Pember.
