November of 2016 was the beginning of a new era for Bearden boys basketball with the welcoming of the team’s new head coach Jeremy Parrott.
Upon his arrival, Coach Parrott promised to lead the team with emphasis on defense and character, and clearly his hard work has come to fruition.
Coach Parrott was recently named District 4-AAA Coach of the Year. With an impressive undefeated district season, Coach Parrott is making a name for both himself and the team.
However, despite Coach Parrott’s immense success, he remains incredibly humble always giving glory to the team and their talent as well as dedication.
“There are certain things that coaches do to help teams execute,” Coach Parrott said. “There are certain things coaches do to make teams come together.
“The bottom line is players win games, coaches facilitate.”
Despite his modesty, there is no doubt that Coach Parrott has been a big part of this team’s success.
“He’s been working hard since he got here,” junior guard Ques Glover said. “He had to prove himself to local fans and teachers around the school, so it’s overall just very impressive.
“It’s been a great experience. He pushes us every day.”
As the district basketball season draws to an end, the Bulldogs finished district play undefeated and won a record 31 regular season games.
“I feel like we’ve just got great players, and I’m blessed to be their coach,” Coach Parrott said.
