Junior Collin Lewis scored twice to lead the Bearden boys soccer team past rival Hardin Valley 3-1.
Junior Tanner Whited added the third goal.
“We were able to start scoring, which we’ve had trouble with in the past,” Lewis said. “If we can keep scoring, I think we’re good going forward.”
Junior Everett Hauser believes that the Bulldogs need to continue this play in order to win more games going down the stretch.
“We need to continue keeping up the pressure,” Hauser said. “We also need to finish all our chances.
“When we play teams like Farragut, we won’t get many [chances], and the ones we do get we’ll have to score.”
Hauser is currently nominated for Prepxtra Player of the Week. To vote, go to prepxtra.com.
Bearden (2-2) will face Gallatin (4-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m. This game will kick off the Bearden Invitational, and games will continue into the upcoming weekend.
The Bulldogs have gotten two district wins in a row, and Lewis believes if they can continue to improve their scoring, they can keep getting these wins.
“We’ve got some good teams in our district and our region,” Lewis said. “It’s big for us to keep putting up clean sheets in games where we don’t get up many goals, which our defense has done a good job of.
“Hopefully our attackers can start putting in some more goals and be more consistent with that.”
