The Bearden boys bowling team is undefeated so far this season, and the Bulldogs have set high goals for the remainder of the season.
“We hope to make it to state,” Coach Jennifer Allen said.
The Bulldogs have already beaten some of the best teams in the state during their unbeaten run.
The team’s success can be easily traced to the performance of the returning members. Returning senior member Corey Ramey has an impressive average of 213 points per game.
Ramey bowled a season-high 279 against Central on Oct. 23.
“We have a lot of veteran leadership throughout the team,” Ramey said. “We have a core group of guys that have been bowling together for a long time, and that history has helped us as a team.”
Coach Allen knows that the team has put in the work and time in order to help grow the team going into the new season.
“They have all worked in the off season to become better bowlers,” Coach Allen said. “And they continue to work day to day.”
Though the girls team is not undefeated, the Lady Bulldogs are also having a successful season.
“We’re practicing really hard, and we are trying to do our best every single match,” junior Kristy Dean said. “We are trying not to let the little things discourage us as a team and focusing on working with every member of the team.”
The team’s depth has been a valuable asset this year.
“The best thing about the team is that we have a lot of different people who can step up on any given night and consistently perform,” Coach Allen added.
The Bulldogs hope to continue to bowl strong and consistent for the remainder of their season.
“We want to finish our season undefeated while also continuing to improve our scores,” Ramey said.
