Bearden’s boys bowling team finished runner-up in the region tournament on Thursday and will play a sectional match Monday.
Bearden beat Gatlinburg-Pittman in the semi-finals but lost to Sevier County High School in the final round.
“Some of our guys played very well,” head coach Jennifer Allen said. “Corey Ramey, Ben Whitaker, and Zander Pritt all had a really good day.”
The boys will now advance to sectionals on Monday at 2 p.m. where they will play Region 1 champions Greeneville High School in an elimination match.
Junior Ben Whitaker and Senior Corey Ramey have been strong competitors this season and were the leading scorers at Thursday’s match.
The girls team concluded their season after falling to William Blount in a competitive round. Junior Kristy Dean bowled the highest score for the Lady Bulldogs.
Ramey and Dean will represent Bearden at the state tournament as individuals and the rest of the boys team could join in contending in the state tournament if they beat Greeneville on Monday.
