Bearden golf team’s season is underway, and this is their first full season with an on campus putting green, chipping targets, and driving net.
The golf facility has been beneficial to the players and coaches so far. In previous years, the team would have to leave campus and practice at a local golf course.
“The golf facility has been great for our team and has been put to good use,” Coach Tyler Lane said. “We’re using it two to three times per week having team practice to work on specific fundamentals and short game competitions amongst our players.”
The golf team is full of talented young players, but junior Logan Roddy has been the standout player so far this season. Roddy has been playing well this season and shot a career low score against Heritage last week.
“He has put in a lot of time over the past two years and is starting to see the fruits of his labor, posting career low scores almost every time he plays,” Coach Lane said.
For the rest of the season, the coaches and players are focused on improving as a team and having their knowledge for the game grow as much as possible.
“I want to see the team continue to learn and grow in their knowledge and competitiveness in the game, and develop some team camaraderie,” Coach Lane said.
Added Roddy: “Expectation for the rest of the season is that we continue to move forward as a team and continue to work.”
